Duty Free
Ben Gurion Airport has a wide selection of duty free goods, including a Diesel jeans shop, watches, electrical goods and sportswear shops (correct as at 11.08). There are also a couple of coffee kiosks, offering a wide range of sandwiches, cakes and drinks.
Climate & Clothing
The Dead Sea region is usually very hot and a minimal amount of clothes are necessary, with maybe a cardigan or light jacket needed in the evening in the autumn/winter months. Dress attire is casual, although on a Friday evening (Shabbat), hotel guests may dress quite smartly. Jackets and ties are not required at any time for dining.
Water
We recommend drinking 2-3 litres of water per day as you can get very dehydrated in the sun all day. Most hotels offer a filtered water tap on each floor, where you can take your bottle and refill as and when you require. Bottled water is available at the small shops scattered around the Ein Bokek area in Israel.
Electricity
Electric current is 220 volts AC. An adaptor is necessary – 2 pronged).
Currency & Credit Cards
The Israeli Shekel is the local currency and the US $ is widely used. Credit cards are widely accepted. There are no banks in the Ein Bokek area but all hotels will exchange traveller cheques/sterling for shekels or dollars.
Safety Deposit Boxes
Please ensure you look after your valuables and never leave them on show. Always use safes where provided in the hotels at all times.
Entry Visas
No entry visa is required for UK passport holders. If you hold any other passport, please check with the relevant embassy to see if a visa is needed.
